PEACH has been approached by several members of the community about having difficulty accessing Health Services in Custom House with a particular focus on the Freemasons Road GP surgery, this is what our health group has been doing.
A group of patients have started meeting to discuss the surgery with many residents having the same problems.
1. We can’t get appointments! We have to queue or spend ages on the phone.
2. We don’t get to see the same doctor. Every time it’s someone different.
“Many of us have been patients here for decades. We appreciate the care we have been given over the years, BUT this Surgery used to be better. Let’s make it good again!”
We have already had some success…
After submitting 30 patients’ experiences and attending a Surgery Meeting, the Surgery now opens at 7am, so we don’t have to queue outside on the cold mornings but we still want to do more. As PEACH we want to work with the surgery to improve the appointments system- no more queuing or waiting on the phone to find out there’s no appointments! We also want to increase the amount of patients who get to see a regular doctor.
