PEACH parents group at St Joachim’s school have been working hard with Literacy lead Miss Pape and Head teacher Mr Allen to get the Parents’ Literacy class up and running.
The class is off to a good start this year, with 16 parents at the first session, and 25 at the second! Parents decided to start the class because they did not understand the curriculum that their children were learning, and were therefore unable to help them with their homework. Originally a group of PEACH parents took the idea of a parents’ education class to St Joachim’s head teacher, Mr Allen, and asked for the school to help get the initiative off the ground. The program is gaining support amongst the parents, who say that it helps them feel like the school and parents are working as a team to improve their children’s education.
