2020 as we all know, was a challenging year, people out of work, people being in lockdown, the effect of COVID 19 had the world in turmoil; well, our community wasn’t any different; it was in a rough place, and we were here to help. After the government put the lockdown in place, we decided to start the PEACH Kitchen to provide food for the elderly who were struggling and people who were suffering from the pandemic.
Several people from the community volunteered to help with deliveries and the preparation of the meals. The kitchen was open three days a week. Every day was a different cuisine; our volunteers would then take orders and deliver the food to each customer’s doorstep. We at PEACH are very proud and something we would love to continue in the future. The response from the community was something we never expected, and we are keen to reopen a Community Kitchen on Freemason’s Road in the near future but this depends on the council agreeing to open up the empty highstreet.
