The E16 Community Land Trust (CLT) was set up in 2018 by Peach Housing Club to be PEACH’s very own housing organisation, with its own board and mandate to provide genuinely and permanently affordable housing in the area by securing land to build on as part of the regeneration. In the medium term, the CLT aims to build CLT homes, which are designed and controlled by the local community, and some incredible progress has already been made in terms of assembling the technical skills to do this, and establishing support and partnerships with the key local institutions.
In the long term, the CLT aims to generate revenue for PEACH as the organisation that links the CLT to the local community and is able to create the powerbase required to drive the project forward. The CLT has its own board, which steer its activities, with a link member from the PEACH Steering Group. The CLT can be thought of as the housing delivery arm of PEACH, while PEACH can be thought of as the organising and campaigning arm of the CLT. These respective roles and complementary and essential to the project’s success.
